Inter Milan to contact Sommer and Bayern Munich to finalize the transfer in the coming week. The Nerazzurri are planning to wrap up the signing of a keeper as soon as possible to give Inzaghi time in incorporating the keeper into the system. Bayern are resisting this move as they are currently searching for a keeper to replace him.
The Nerazzurri are reluctant to trigger the release clause as they can only go up to €4 or 4.5 million. Moreover, Inter have an agreement in place with the Swiss keeper and hopes that this will help in negotiations. Bayern are willing to sell him if they get a replacement for Neuer. The German keeper was struggling with injuries last season, and Bayern need a backup option for him.
Inter are also considering other keepers as they have to fill two positions after the departure of Handanovic and Onana. However, Trubin’s transfer also hit the rock as Shakhtar are not willing to go down on their evaluation of €30 million.
Inter to contact Sommer and Bayern this week
The Nerazzurri have an excellent relationship with Bayern and are not looking to force the transfer by triggering the release clause. So both clubs will soon hold talks for Sommer’s transfer. The Swiss keeper was excellent for Bayern and filled the shoes of Neuer exceedingly well. He had a great game against Man City, despite losing to the treble winners in the end.
Ideally, Inter should have secured Sommer’s transfer before the start of the pre-season. Now the Nerazzurri are in a delicate position as they have lost their main keepers in this window. Onana, Handanovic, and Radu are out, and Inter can not rely on other options for the next season. But with the personal terms already agreed with Sommer, Inter would hope to find an agreement with Bayern soon.
