Conte is under fire after Inter drop out of Europe

Antonio Conte is under fire from the fans and possibly from Suning after Inter dropped out of Europe. The Nerazzurri finished an embarrassing 4th in their Champions League group. Conte’s men managed just 1 win from 6 games in the competition. Subsequently, the Nerazzurri lacked the composure that Conte should’ve brought into the team this campaign. A lacklustre start to the domestic campaign only adds to the worries regarding the former Juve manager. Thankfully, Inter have found some form in the Serie A as they sit second in the table, trailing Milan by 5 points.

Moreover, Conte has the tendency to attract unfair criticism towards his coaching. While Inter’s domestic performance is clearly back on track, Conte deserves criticism for his sides Champions League flop show. From Vidal picking that red card against Real Madrid to letting go of a 2 goal lead against Gladbach, Inter looked nervy. The once most dominant club in Europe have failed to qualify through their group thrice in a row.

A report by Sempre Inter suggests that Conte is under fire from Suning as well. The Chinese owners have invested a massive €230M in the club in just two seasons. Furthermore, Antonio Conte’s €12M wage bill makes him the highest-paid manager in Italy by a massive margin. Suning didn’t hire Conte to win the Champions League, they brought him to win the Scudetto. But, can a team that finished bottom of its group, make a strong bid for the Scudetto?

Conte is under fire but he must do the job

Antonio Conte is known for winning league titles and that’s what he must do now. Irrespective of the fact that he might leave the club at the end of the season, Conte must do his job right. Inter are 5 points off a Milan side who are a slip-up waiting to happen. And Conte is not stupid to ignore that fact. Inter are by far the most in-form side in the top half of the table right now. Conte will want to carry forward the form into the winter break. Once the season resumes, teams will make slip-ups and Inter must ensure they’re not among those. If Conte can win the Scudetto for Inter this season, then he’ll be remembered forever by the fans.
