Conte signed 16 players in his two-year spell with the club. The CEO and Sporting director kept their hands in their pockets, letting Conte do what he had to. Undoubtedly, Conte has brought the Serie A trophy back at the San Siro after more than a decade. However, there are many players that cost Inter a fortune and did not contribute enough to the game. The club spent around €100 million euro in the summer of 2019. In his period with the Nerazzurri, Conte signed 16 players. The selection ranged from youngsters to players in the dawn of their careers.
On top of the 16 players in the first and the most important part of Inter, Romelu Lukaku. The Belgian has proven to be one of the most valued assets for the club. He brings positivity and a winning spirit to the club. However, he was signed for a club-record fee of €80 million. The next one in line is Nicolo Barella, the youngster who has proved to be a feisty addition to the club. Barella has established himself as one of the best midfielders in Europe after joining in 2019.

After Barella, Inter signed Achraf Hakimi in summer 2020 at €40 million from Real Madrid. He has been a really great addition to the club. Further, Conte brought Ashley Young to the team who has secured 34 games in the 2020-21 season. Inter signed him for €1.5 million in January 2020. Matteo Darmian has been the next quality addition to the club. Not just for the fantastic defender that he is, but also for his versatility and his take on the superstar forward.
Further, Alexis Sanchez was saved by Conte from a disastrous season with Man United. Sanchez joined Inter in the summer of 2019 on a loan. Next is Stefano Sensi. The midfielder has made some important contributions to the club in these two seasons. However, Inter will sell him for the same €25 million they bought him for in the summer. One story that will remain is Eriksen’s revival at Inter. The Dane came to the club with dreams. However, he did not get to play much in the first season. But he performed tremendously well every time the club needed him in Serie A this season. It is only recently that Eriksen fit into Conte’s system and developed a good relationship with him.
Diego Godin joined Inter in 2019 to bring some winning expertise. He also helped Inter with the Europa League final in 2020. However, Inter released him after one season and moved to Cagliari for more opportunities to play. Conte brought Arturo Vidal as they both played for Juventus earlier. However, this buy did not turn out as expected. The next one in line is Matteo Politano. Inter signed him for €20 million straight in summer 2019. However, he did not fit right into Conte’s system. And when Conte realized that, he sent the striker to Napoli on loan. The Italian footballer has had a great 18 months with Napoli so far. Andrea Pinamonti is young and has time to develop. However, he hasn’t been the greatest addition to the club so far.
Andrei Radu has a weird story as he belonged to Inter’s youth academy. At first, Genoa signed him for €8 million. Although soon enough he was signed back by Inter for €12 million. And then loaned back to Genoa again. Finally, he came back to inter in the 2020-21 season as a back-up to Samir Handanovic and might be the one to fill the Slovenian’s position after retirement. Soon after Conte’s arrival, Inter got Valentino Lazaro to the club. However, he did not settle well as a wing-back in Conte’s 3-5-2 system. He really liked Conte as a manager. He went out to Bundesliga on loan again in the 2020-21 season. Lucien Agoume came in as a 17-year-old in 2019. Having made only 3 substitute appearances so far, he still has time to develop.
The last one on the list is Alex Kolarov. Inter signed him for €1.5 million, accepting his €100,000 a week wages. It seemed pretty indifferent back then and still does. Finally, he’ll be released this month.
