Inter Milan can win Serie A for the first time since 2009-10. As predicted by the International Centre for Sports Studies (CIES). The CIES has published a report which has provided a forecast for the final league table. It is based on statistics such as shots on target, possession, completed passes and territorial dominance among other metrics. Inter were predicted to finish the season on 81 points. That is two points ahead of AC Milan and three points clear of current reigning champions Juventus.
Inter won 3-1 against Lazio on weekend. While AC Milan lost 2-0 to Spezia. Hence, Inter are at top of the Serie A table. But, CIES has made projections on February 10. This means that these statistics do not factor in Inter’s win against Lazio or AC Milan’s shock defeat to Spezia.

CIES is a football observatory, it is an independent study centre located in Neuchâtel, Switzerland. It specializes in the statistical analysis of football. It was created in 2005 by Dr Raffaele Poli and Dr Loïc Ravenel. Their mission is to advance the frontiers of knowledge for the sustainable development of football worldwide. Inter will have to take confidence from the Lazio game and win the Derby next week to secure their position at the top even more. While AC Milan will look to come back and get hold of the 1st position once again. The Nerazzurri will be happy that Romelu Lukaku has picked up his form at the right time and will hope that he adds more to his tally of 300 goals. The Rossoneri have lost 3 out of their last 5 games, one loss coming at the hands of Inter in Coppa Italia.
The Derby di Milano will take place on Sunday, 21st February, at the San Siro stadium.
