Andre Onana to prioritise Barca for his next move. The Cameroonian keeper wants to return to his home next year despite his verbal agreement with Inter. Onana was not able to play football for 9 months because of his doping ban. He is still unable to get much game time under Erik Ten Hag as he prefers Pasveer over him. Onana has already said that he will leave Ajax next year, but he has not decided his next club.
But in a recent interview, Onana said that he would like to go to Barcelona as it is his home. He started his career at the Samuel Eto’o Academy and then played in Barcelona’s youth team. He said that he is in on good terms with Barca since he left and he is in touch with them. Barcelona also currently need a keeper like him since Ter Stegen is going through a rough patch. So Barcelona might sell him and sign Onana. Also, Neuer is thinking of retiring so Bayern could take Ter Stegen which will clear the path for Onana as he can be the first choice keeper at Barca.
Onana to prioritise Barca despite contact with Inter
Inter reached a verbal agreement with Onana a few months back. But it seems that the Cameroonian keeper is having second thoughts as he wants to join Barcelona. Inter were ready to get him as a free agent next year as Handanovic’s contract will expire. The Nerazzurri see Onana as Samir’s heir but it looks like Onana will prefer his former club.
However, Barcelona are in a tough situation currently they are in the Europa League. Moreover, it will be difficult for them to qualify for Champions League as they are 8th in La Liga. While Inter Milan are the league leaders and are trying to defend their title this season. So, they can surely provide Champions League football to Onana next season.
